Church History
The Church of Pentecost, like most great institutions, started in a small way. The Church’s beginnings are linked to the ministry of Pastor James McKeown (1900-1989); an Irish missionary sent by the Apostolic Church, Bradford, United Kingdom (UK), to the then Gold Coast (now Ghana) in 1937 to help a group of believers of the Apostolic Faith led by Rev. Peter Newman who later became the founder of Christ Apostolic Church. The Church of Pentecost-UK is part of a larger global organisation (The Church of Pentecost), operating in 171 different countries with 3.8 million members across the globe.
The Church of Pentecost-UK, established in 1989, is a religious charity in the United Kingdom. The Church operates in 178 local churches across the UK, with a membership of over 21,000. The charitable objects of the Church includes advancing the Christian faith, relieving sickness, relieving financial hardship, promoting and preserving good health (by the provision of funds, goods or services of any kind, including counselling) and advancing education in such ways and in such parts of the United Kingdom
